❌ No post-processing
❌ No re-cast or heat deformation

Microwaterjet® Cutting Dimensions & Specifications

Even without drawings or guides, our engineers can precisely replicate parts or enhance pre-fabricated components based on your requirements:

  • Material Thickness: From 0.010mm x 5mm (0.0005” x 0.2”) up to 1000mm x 600mm (39” x 23.5”)
  • Surface Quality: Equivalent to N7 or Ra1.6 micrometers
  • Tolerance/Accuracy: ± 0.01 mm (depending on material and thickness)
  • Positioning Accuracy: ± 0.003 mm
  • Kerf Width: As narrow as 0.2mm (0.008″)
  • 3-D Cutting: 2-D Only (the MACROWATERJET supports cut angles up to +/- 60 degrees from flat stock with continuous rotation).
  • Average Impact Speed: Approximately 800m/s
  • How Does the Microwaterjet® Work?

Material is mechanically removed without Heat Affected Zones (HAZ) using a cold-cutting process. This means little to no biocompatibility issues or requirements for deburring—even with the most intricate designs.

    FAQs

    Why would I need Microwaterjet®?

In some cases, the parts that we produce cannot be cut any other way due to the combination of features and material type. Our customers are those who would have to post-process their parts after laser cutting or using wire EDM in order to remove slag or a recast layer.

Can The Microwaterjet® Cut Any Material?

Almost any material can be cut using our technology. Some types of glass and other extremely brittle materials cannot be cut. Many plastics and ceramics that are challenging to laser technology can be cut by Microwaterjet®. Where wire EDM is limited to conductive materials only, conductivity is not a requirement for Microwaterjet® technology.

How Does The Microwaterjet® Cutting Speed Compare To Conventional Water Jet Cutting?

Microwaterjet® was developed for creating fine features with higher tolerances than conventional water jet. Since we use a finer cutting stream and finer abrasive, our cutting speed is somewhat slower than conventional speeds.

How Does The Microwaterjet® Improve The Prototyping Process?

Microwaterjet® can prototype parts that can’t be cut using laser or wire EDM. You can also eliminate the cost associated with manufacturing stamping dies during the prototyping process.
